HELP US OUT and Volunteer to work FITS! 

• Memorial Day Weekend, May 22-25, 2009
• Mansfield, Washington
• Flight waiver, 8,000 AGL at the racetrack and extension, 14,000' AGL at the away cell
• Tell us what you'll be flying at FITS 2009!  It will go on our Special Projects page
• Launch Fees
• Fliers $40 per person $50 per family for the weekend
• Spectators $10 per person  $20 per family for the weekend or $5/pp/day
• WAC members no fees - Join WAC today!  $40/family/year
• Camping on-site
• Porta-Potties on-site
• Showers at Mansfield High School ($2 per)
• Special Events:
  • FITS 2009 Flight Competitions!
  • Night launch 8:30pm to 9:30pm
  • Astronomy/Stargazing
    • The Tacoma Astronomy Society and the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory will hold classes and have telescopes available for solar & star-gazing.

  General:

  • Mansfield is a rural area with limited infrastructure. Please read & heed the information about the Mansfield launch site.
  • Please read & heed our new Range Procedures (51K PDF).
  • Directions are on the Mansfield launch site page.
  • Here's information on lodging/camping in the area.
  • Please drive 3 mph as you approach the launch area, and within the launch area. A vehicle moving any faster can raise a surprising amount of very annoying dust!
  • Check-in with launch officials when you arrive about parking & camping.
    • Sign your liability waiver, pay range fees and get your wristband.
  • Please do not park in any areas designated for vendors or for launch administration.
  • Absolutely no fireworks or open fires! Please keep grills, stoves & lamp clear of brush and grass.

  Launch Hours:

  • Friday: 8am - 6pm - Research Only
  • Saturday: 8 AM - 6PM Night launch 8:30 PM - 9:30 PM
  • Sunday: 8AM - 6PM
  • Monday: 8AM - 2PM (limited GSE after noon)

  • Please volunteer to help out. We can't do this launch without your help.  Use the online volunteer signup sheet here.

  • Commercial motors that are currently NAR, TRA or CAR safety certified only.
  • Research launch per Tripoli Research procedures and restrictions.
  • WAC supports the adherence of all State and Federal regulations regarding the transport and use of hobby rocket motors.
